Anhingas spend a lot of time in and under the water, but have almost no waterproofing on their feathers. That’s why they’re often seen perched with their
wings out, drying themselves in the sun. They have webbed toes and not so buoyant so they can swim deeper. Some of its nick names are Snake bird,
American darter and black darter. The Anhinga feeds on aquatic insects and other invertebrates, young caimans, small turtles, snakes and fishes.
